The much-demanded Diotima Quartet has made a speciality of revisiting the great pages of romantic and modern literature, bringing them into dialogue with the greatest names in contemporary music. This concert combines Schubert’s and Szymanowski’s last quartets – of unique intensity – and a new quintet by Thomas Adès (French premiere), as a tribute to Elizabethan music and alchemy and composed for the British clarinettist Mark Simpson.
